)NY SAS 2006/2007 Summary Report

)Gold Medal Award Session EAS/Student awards update – Rich provided update of EAS session.   The timeline for pulling together the speaker list was very short and thus we discussed that next year we have to begin the process much earlier.  Debbie agreed to begin updating the website now for nominations next year.  However, we had strong candidates this year that can carry over for next year.   Tentative Speakers for 2007 EAS are:  Paul Wilks, Howard Mark, Peter Grifiths, Chris Brown, John Reffner.

)Treasurers Report – Howard discuss his comments from last series of emails: There's nothing currently in C&B that requires our putting the chair's name on the section's account.  I think we should add and implement immediately: the chair (or president) should also have signing rights to the checking account. This wouldn't be used under ordinary circumstances, but should be added in case of an emergency.   All agreed that we should have 2 people at any time that can execute bank activities.   Ideally the treasurer and also the Chair.   All agreed that Rich would go to the bank with Howard and sign a request for to be a backup for signing checks and initiating other bank account activities.

)Webmaster/secretary update –Debbie discussed the recent updates and asked to continue with Webmaster activities after her chair position is over.   Debbie will look into how to manage and maintain the current list of NYSAS members i.e members@nysas.org.    Also Howard will send the most recent file of names he has.    Debbie will send email to corporate SAS asking for a current list of NYSAS members.

)NYSAS bylaws – All, we discussed the changes and forward action was to  send the document around again for final review.   Lee Craven suggested at last meeting that we need to send to SAS headquarters for final approval of any changes.

)Officer Nominations (June 07- Jun 08) -  By Laws - Nominations shall be made annually at the April meeting and voted for by letter ballot to take office on June 1st and serve until their successors are installed.  Discussion of nominations/suggestions and timeline for finalizing elections.   Forward action was for Debbie to send an email out to all members asking for volunteers and nominations for all officer positions.
