New York Society for Applied Spectroscopy
The stated objective of the Society is "to advance and disseminate knowledge and information concerning the art and science of spectroscopy and other allied sciences." One way our local section supports this objective is to recognize senior researchers, graduate students, and undergraduate students through our awards program. Since 1952 the New York Society for Applied Spectrsocopy has sponsored the the Gold Medal Symposium and Award, currently part of the Eastern Analytical Symposium and Exposition (EAS).
The 2010 NYSAS Gold Medal winner is Dr. Cecil Dybowski from University of Delaware
He will be presented with his award at the 2010 EAS Gold Medal Session to be held in Somerset, NJ in November 2009. Click HERE for Dr. Dybowski's biography We also present one graduate and up to five undergraduate awards annually. The New York Section Graduate Student Awardee will also be nominated for the National SAS Student Award which is presented at the annual meeting of the Federation of Analytical Chemistry and Spectroscopy Societies (FACSS).
