1)Topics for Dinner Meetings
a.Tereherz imaging (TeraView), LIF – Laser Induced Fluorescence, Camo (Dongsheng Bu), Process NMR, Process MS, other chromatography methods particularly hyphenated techniques with spectroscopy (LC IR).
2)NY SAS Brochure – Tri-fold pamphlet
a.All in favor of generating NY SAS brochure for EAS distribution at award session. Debbie & Rich will draft prototypes for next meeting
b.Contents to include – Mission statement, Meeting topics and dates for upcoming meetings, Address, Dues, membership form, invitation to come to next meeting, Website URL.
c.NY SAS Yearly Newsletter was also suggested by Rich Castino’s wife. All agreed that this was a good way to summarize our year and to promote attendance and to demonstrate that we maintain a good local section.
d.It was mentioned that a Yearly Newsletter along with other novel activities might qualify us for the SAS Poehlman Award.

4)Webmaster Update
a.Debbie has assumed responsibility of maintaining website from Way Fountain. Debbie will purchase a Thank you gift certificate for Way’s contributions to SAS and send it to him in Maryland. Xujin Lu has agreed to help Debbie maintain website and help with secretarial reporting. Debbie will provide overview training over next few months.
5)Lunch time Meetings (Beta Test)
a.Everyone discussed pros and cons of virtual SAS monthly meetings. In general, the advantage is less time away from family, lower costs. The disadvantage is no face to face networking and some argued that getting 1-hour during the middle of the day would be difficult. All agreed to try 1- meeting this year during winter time (possibly February). A topic & speaker that will generate a larger crowd was agreed upon.
6)Officer Teleconference – monthly
a.Debbie suggested having a once per month meeting for officers to stay connected between meetings and to discuss business topics and progress on initiatives. Debbie will send out MCI links for participants. We will beta test idea over next few months.
